Who is Sydney Delgarno, could you please introduce yourself?

Hi there! My name is Sydney Dalgarno, I am 25 years old and have been in love with the wellness industry my entire life. I grew up in Oakville but have been living in Toronto for the past 6 years. My passion is to make people feel absolutely amazing about themselves naturally and teach the tips and tricks of the skin care world!

What is your business and when did you start?

My business is called Green Tea With Me Esthetics, and I officially opened doors July 5th 2021! We are located in the Barre Life building on Speers Road so it’s sometimes confusing to find us, but once you do it’s nothing but luxury and coziness where you can let loose and relax.

What inspired you to start your business?

I have always been passionate about fitness, health and wellness. I originally thought I was going into the fitness industry after studying it for two years, but realized that I didn’t see it as a full time job. Living in Toronto I worked front desk at a family friends spa and instantly became obsessed with this other aspect of health and wellness. I was promoted to Skin Care Ambassador of the company and from there decided to study it and went back to school.

What were the challenges in the initial stages of your business and how did you overcome them?

I have definitely had obstacles to overcome in terms of making the decision to become a business owner. My whole life confidence was an issue as I grew up with a memory issue (IEP is what they call it in school). On top of that I am a very outgoing, bubbly person, so between the two I’ve had my fair share of teachers and employers not take me seriously as a person. My mental health was suffering from the negativity in my life and realized I need to separate myself from this energy. It wasn’t until I met Niki Corion (owner of Barre Life) and my Esthetics teachers at George Brown College that I realized the amazing person I can be in this world and my capabilities. With their mentorship, generosity and encouragement I realized that I can flourish on my own. Because of them, my family and friends and my love of this industry,  I was awarded by Community Votes Best Esthetician in Oakville in 2022. Surround yourself with good people and that energy will help you go far!

What motivates you about your business?

I love making people feel good about themselves! There’s nothing like the excitement after my clients start to notice the results in their laser hair removal or skin rejuvenation journey! Or just making them feel like a million bucks after a great, relaxing facial.

What advice would you give to other entrepreneurs?

Surround yourself with great mentors!!! It’s the reason I had to confidence to start my own business in the first place.

Interesting fact most of the people do not know about you?

I am a huge animal lover; also a huge supporter of the Humane Society in Oakville and only support brands that don’t test on animals.

The best business advice I ever received was…

All the best business advice I receive is from my dad. Probably that networking is everything. I read a book called ‘The Most Powerful Woman in the Room is You’ by Lydia Fenet and she constantly mentioned “network or die” as a critical part of entrepreneurship.

My definition of success is…

 Happiness!

If I could go back in time when I started my business, I would tell myself to…

Not buy so much product. Due to the pandemic I had to throw away $1000’s in products that never got used during the lockdown.
