Who is Sonam Grover, could you please introduce yourself?
I’m a mother of two who hustles between the roles of a mom and Condo Mom – I love my work and it is my passion . I have my background in finance & marketing. I love some alone time to reflect on what I want in life and what gives me happiness. I have created a life where I have good work-life balance and this was only possible because I believed in me.
What is your business and when did you start?
My business is to help moms understand the real estate investment and how this can be so beneficial for their families. I have been in real estate business for almost a decade helping different families. I got the idea of having a company called Condo Moms because this niche was missing and not all the cultures believe in women understanding the investments part of it. I help families with investment portfolio and property management as well. We have full service one stop shop for everything related to Real Estate.
What inspired you to start your business?
My personal passion is for investments. I did realize that not every mom/woman is talking about it. In most of the social gatherings I have been to I hear men talking about real estate investments and this gave birth to Condo Moms who will help women/moms get more power and knowledge in this field. I hope I can help as many families as I can and build relationships.
What were the challenges in the initial stages of your business and how did you overcome them?
Real Estate is the most important part of everyone’s investment portfolio. The first challenge I had was to explain families how being in the market full time gave us more access and advantage to updated trends in the market as opposed to people who exercise real estate part-time, giving families not enough information and discounts. The second challenge was the longer hours of work – much different than a 9-5 job, being a full time realtor was initially hard with two little kids but little extra hard work made it work.
What motivates you about your business?
My two kids motivate me to do amazing in my business. My husband has always been there as a strong support system who believed in me and my knowledge. He has always given me full independence in choosing our investments and taking financial decisions. That gives me lot of confidence and power.
What advice would you give to other entrepreneurs?
I would say there is no right time to start chasing your passion and dreams. No matter what people will think, we can start anytime anywhere. Don’t get demotivated when people don’t trust your vision. Your vision is Your Vision not someone else’s. Just Keep Going.
Interesting fact most of the people do not know about you?
They don’t know that I enjoy my alone time as much as I enjoy my time with others to reflect on my vision. I know most of us think real estate is all about being social but being social is just one part of it.
The best business advice I ever received was…
Invest in yourself. You are the most important asset in your business. Never stop investing in yourself. And that has got me here where I am today.
My definition of success is…
Success to me is me better than my yesterday. Everyone has a different meaning to success and never compare your success with anyone else’s. Everyone has their own journey . Competing with yourself gives you Power.
If I could go back in time when I started my business, I would tell myself to…
Never Stop. Keep going. And I wish I had believed in my vision earlier. But it’s never too late I believe.
Three books I recommend for entrepreneurs are…
