Who is Sam Brabender, could you please introduce yourself?

Hi everybody! I’m Sam Brabender. Originally from the UK, I moved to Oakville, Canada in 2008 along with my husband, 2 daughters and 2 cats. We love living here! As both daughters complete university, I have more time for yoga, exercise, golf, listening to podcasts, networking….and of course building my global empire. Looking forward to being able to see everyone in person!

What is your business and when did you start?

I am all about unleashing the entrepreneurial power of moms by helping them start a professional and lucrative side business from home. I do this in partnership with a modern, professional, award winning global relationship marketing company called Neora. Together we help people look, feel and live better with our holistic anti-aging products. A great friend of mine  recommended this company to me when it launched in the US. It was ground breaking. I followed the successful launch of this company in the US and jumped on board when it came to Canada.

What inspired you to start your business?

My career started in corporate marketing for Kleenex which I loved. However once I had children my priorities changed and I no longer wanted a boss. So I decided to start my own business. I have had a few businesses over the years but they have all been centred on empowering women.

What were the challenges in the initial stages of your business and how did you overcome them?

Lack of confidence was probably the biggest challenge. You have to have a lot of courage to go out on your own. Key is to keep learning from people who have done what you are trying to do and stop listening to the ones who have no idea.

What motivates you about your business?

In my opinion, the problem today is that there are too many well educated ambitious women who are playing small after having children. What message does that show to our daughters? We need to help moms feel like they can get back to a place of influence, power and ambition. Women should not be penalised for taking time out to raise their children. So how can I help? I can help moms start an e commerce business from home for minimal upfront cost, all inclusive training and the support of a like minded  community . That makes me feel really amazing!

What advice would you give to other entrepreneurs?

Know your why. If it’s strong enough, you will be able to ride out the roller coaster of the highs and lows of having your own business. Find a mentor. Dont try to do everything yourself. Surround yourself with people who know more than you.

Interesting fact most of the people do not know about you?

I chose my university on the basis that it had a parachute club. Jumping out of a plane was something I had always wanted to do.

The best business advice I ever received was…

Stop worrying about what others think…Do you really think you are so important that they are thinking about you that much? Wow this was a game changer for me!

My definition of success is…

doing what you love to do so much you would do it without any form of financial compensation.

If I could go back in time when I started my business, I would tell myself to…

stop listening to nay sayers so much!

Three books I recommend for entrepreneurs are…

Slight Edge by Jeff Olson

The E Myth Revisited by Michael E Gerber

Building a Story Brand by Donald Miller

My personal tagline is…

Life is Not a Rehearsal so…Go Confidently in the direction of our dreams!
