Who is Rukhsana Khan, could you please introduce yourself?
Hi, I am Rukhsana Khan. I am a proud mother of two. I live in Milton, Ontario with my husband. I love hiking, coffee, shoes, handbags, books, travelling and continuous self improvement. At any given time you will find me enrolled in some course related to health and wellness. I have a passion to share my knowledge and experience with others to help them in their health and wellness journey. I am a certified Health and Life Coach and a certified FDN-P (Functional Diagnostic Nutrition Practitioner).
What is your business and when did you start?
I am a functional health coach and I help women with hypothyroidism and Hashimoto’s. I believe in natural healing and that our body is the most amazing machine which thrives when you give it the right nutrients, environment and rest. I have been coaching part time for the last one year but in 2021 I decided to launch my business and get into full time coaching. I also own Simply For Life Oakville, which is a health food store in Oakville.
What inspired you to start your business?
I have Hashimoto’s. When my symptoms first began in 2012, it took two years of appointments and tests to receive a diagnosis of autoimmune Hashimoto’s Disease. The diagnosis scared me, but also triggered my curiosity. Over the next few years, I consulted with multiple doctors and health experts, researched widely and pursued accredited learning to find the answers I needed. Finally, in early 2018, I found a way to make my condition manageable and achieved remission months later. While it felt so good to be symptom-free, it was hard to see so many of the women I’d met with Hashimoto’s still suffering. I decided to go back to school, get my certification so that I can help others who are still looking for answers.
What were the challenges in the initial stages of your business and how did you overcome them?
My top two challenges were getting my name out there and attracting clients and how to differentiate myself from other the coaches in the market. I network and invest in social media advertising to share my own personal healing journey; and what makes my business stand out is that I practice what I preach!
What motivates you about your business?
