Who is Renee Walker, could you please introduce yourself?
I believe energy is at the centre of everything. Bringing awareness to your energy allows you to release what no longer serves you – in turn, living with more ease and calm within. Physical, mental and, spiritual energy is the fuel you need to show up fully for yourself and others. With your energy aligned, you’ll discover the part of you that’s been longing to be expressed and can finally begin to live from a place of meaning & purpose. I am a self-proclaimed spirit junkie and passionate student of life. My curiosity has me constantly seeking and learning ways to find more peace and ease in my life, whether through reading, taking classes, or training certifications. As a meditation teacher, yoga instructor, reiki master, and spiritual life coach, I am deeply passionate about helping others align and elevate their energy level. My purpose is to guide you towards peace while empowering you to discover your inner strength.
I’ve been blessed to be on this incredible journey of self-discovery with my husband of 20 + years and two children by my side.
What is your business and when did you start?
My business is Renee Walker Wellness – I find it difficult to give a start date to my business as I feel it’s been in the making my entire life. Every decision has led me here today – deeply passionate about being of service to others on their wellness journey. Renee Walker Wellness offers a variety of yoga & meditation classes online, along with individual and group coaching programs. I am especially proud of the community of heart centred women that play the “starring” role in my business. They all shine brightly and bring their unique energy & essence to our community. It’s been beautiful to witness.
What inspired you to start your business?
My business has evolved very organically. It first began with my own commitment to growing – mind, body & spirit. From there, my biggest inspiration has been the desire to help others connect within and find some peace & calm in their lives. Recently, the situation around the pandemic led me to offer my classes and programs online. It’s been a steep learning curve and very rewarding at the same time!
What were the challenges in the initial stages of your business and how did you overcome them?
My biggest challenge has been to accept that my business is a business! As a spiritual teacher, I am here to be of service so I resisted the business aspect at first. I’ve come to realize that the more I put myself out there, the more people I can help. I’ve learned to really listen to my intuition so that I can go with the flow. It’s been pretty wild so far!
What motivates you about your business?
Seeing the light in my students eyes when they have a a-ha moment. It’s pretty amazing to be a witness to people’s personal & spiritual growth. Plus, I get to grow & learn alongside them!
What advice would you give to other entrepreneurs?
Listen to your intuition and take action. I do believe that my biggest strength in business has been to listen within and to go with it! I’ve really learned to trust those internal nudges. Very often I will announce a decision I’ve made before having everything figured out. I know that once I’ve put myself out there, the logistics will follow. Otherwise as an entrepreneur, you can easily get stuck in waiting for everything to be perfectly aligned. That will never happen. Be ok with it being good enough. Let go of perfection. Put it out there. Then you can begin to perfect your offering. As Nike so famously says – Just Do It.
Interesting fact most of the people do not know about you?
I was a national level rhythmic gymnast and competed at the World Championships in Sarajevo in 1989.
The best business advice I ever received was…
Let go of perfectionism. This is something that I personally need to remind myself on a daily basis. Not just in business but in life as well.
My definition of success is…
My version of business success is being of service while doing something I love. I look at success in a holistic way – success of the mind, body & spirit.
If I could go back in time when I started my business, I would tell myself to…
TRUST… and be patient!
Three books I recommend for entrepreneurs are…
It is very difficult to choose 3 as I am book obsessed! I would have to say the following:
The 7 Spiritual Laws of Success by Deepak Chopra – I am a Spiritual Coach after all! Believing in abundance is key to releasing limiting beliefs around money & worth.
Deep Work by Cal Newport – Giving yourself the space and time to connect within away of distractions helps you tap into your intuition and creativity. This is easily my best daily practice.
Atomic Habits by James Clear – I believe strongly that success happens from the little things you do each and every day. This is true for your health and your business. There are many great books about this concept but I especially love this one!
My personal tagline is…
This too shall pass… everything is transient. Do the best you can in this moment and surrender the rest.
