Who is Rania Anklis, could you please introduce yourself?
Hi, my name is Rania. I was born in Lebanon, lived in Dubai for the last 18 years with my family and recently relocated to Oakville just a few months before the pandemic. I’m married with 3 kids. I’ve been in the event industry for the last 13 years and I’m simply loving it.
What is your business and when did you start?
I’m a certified and licensed wedding and event planner. I launched my wedding planning boutique The Day Events back in 2016 after working for others for several years. The Day Events caters to an extensive variety of wedding styles and budgets. Our philosophy is that every attention to detail helps bring out the personality of the bride on the day of her wedding. Every bride has her own character and personality that inspires me when I design a customized proposal for her. The personality of the bride should always be present at the wedding
What inspired you to start your business?
I’m inspired by everything around me. Watching a Disney movie that makes me dream of a specific wedding theme, seeing a beautiful scenery , a flower or even the fashion could be my inspiration. I have attention to detail and love creating beauty in my environment.
What were the challenges in the initial stages of your business and how did you overcome them?
Relocation and starting all over as well as the pandemic are my main challenges. In order to overcome these two, I started networking and building my network. I will be launching some online workshops soon.
What motivates you about your business?
To see the spark in every bride’s eyes when we reveal her venue is definitely worth all the effort and stress. To have someone’s dream come into reality is priceless.
What advice would you give to other entrepreneurs?
Invest in yourself and never underestimate yourself. Believe in it and love what you do!
Interesting fact most of the people do not know about you?
I’m a big fan of everything related to home decoration, accessories and organizing. One day you might find me in the home styling business!
