Who is Natalie Clark, could you please introduce yourself?
Hi, I’m Natalie! My husband, 2 children and I call Flamborough home. I grew up in Burlington and know the city like the back of my hand! I’m a big fan of nature, road trips and walks. My work history includes retail and customer service.
What is your business and when did you start?
NCFD started in 2018. We are doulas offering birth, postnatal, overnight and infant feeding support. In the near future we will be adding on fertility and bereavement doula services.
What inspired you to start your business?
I struggled during my pregnancies and the first few months of parenthood. Becoming a mother opened my eyes to how difficult raising a baby is. There isn’t a manual that comes with our children but there sure is a heck of a lot of information online! Trying to navigate all the blogs and recommendations while exhausted was a nightmare. I was lucky to have a good support team of family and friends. I’ve always loved helping people and now I have discovered a new passion: babies and parents!
What were the challenges in the initial stages of your business and how did you overcome them?
Marketing has always been my biggest challenge. I found that participating in community events and networking with local businesses has helped me reach more clients. I still feel like I have a lot to learn when it comes to marketing.
What motivates you about your business?
Helping and witnessing people reach their goals. Seeing them become more and more confident in their parenting abilities.
What advice would you give to other entrepreneurs?
There is a market for everything but it takes a lot of creativity and confidence to be successful. So find your passion; that one thing that you really love!
Interesting fact most of the people do not know about you?
I met my birth brother and sister in 2017 after being apart for over 30 years!
The best business advice I ever received was…
Do not fear authenticity. Be who you truly are and you will attract the right clients.
My definition of success is…
Living life on my terms.
If I could go back in time when I started my business, I would tell myself to…
Remember that your world is a reflection of your thoughts, in your personal life and in business. The more positive thoughts you have towards your life and your business, the more success will come your way.
Three books I recommend for entrepreneurs are…
The 7 Habits of Highly Successful People by Stephen Covey
The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle
The Big Leap by Gay Hendricks
My personal tagline is…
“Yesterday I was clever, so I wanted to change the world. Today I am wise, so I am changing myself.” Rumi
