Who is Elena Petrescu, could you please introduce yourself?

I am a Speaker, Author, Accountant with over 18 years of Financial Industry Experience, powerful Hypnosis, NLP, and Micro Expressions training. Over the years I have helped hundreds of individuals overcome challenges, remove self-imposed limitations, overcome deeply ingrained fears, communicate, and build rapport, and ultimately find their true purpose.

What is your business and when did you start?

I became a Certified Hypnotherapist in 2011, and in 2012 started my own Hypnosis practice. For the past 8 years I have been helping people, change their lives one day at the time.  I work with individuals from all walks of life. My financial background, as well as my hypnosis , NLP and micro expressions training has empowered me to help hundreds of individuals overcome challenges, increase their bottom line, eliminate self-imposed limitations and achieve results.

What inspired you to start your business?

As an accountant I opened my accounting practice back in year 2000, fast forward to 2010, I met a client who changed my life, and my career.  He came in for his taxes, and I noticed he had difficulty walking.  He informed me that he survived a terrible car accident 5 years back, and he was not able to walk the same since.  After I reviewed his tax return for the previous years, I immediately told him that I would help him claim the Disability Tax Credit for the last 5 years that he was entitled to, and that he stood to gain approximately $15,000. Now, when you work in financial services and inform a client that they stand to gain any unexpected influx of capital, it is typically more than welcome. But that was not the case in this instance. He refused to apply for the tax credit. “I don’t need charity, I don’t want Government money, I’m doing fine”. He insisted. It was never clearer to me than in that moment, where a few checkboxes on a form potentially meant $15,000, which would have helped him immensely, was adamantly refused because of his limiting beliefs. I wondered: How many people out there have the same way of thinking? Am I limiting myself without even knowing it? I decided to research every piece of information I could find on how the mind works, with the intent on removing my own limiting beliefs and anxiety from my mind to truly heal and grow. I learned that specific techniques could empower me to rewire my mind, eliminate fear, stress, anxiety, and finally live as my authentic self. I became a Certified Hypnotist in 2011, and in 2012 started my own Hypnosis practice. And for the past 8 years I have been helping people just like you, change their lives one day at the time.

What were the challenges in the initial stages of your business and how did you overcome them?

Starting a business can be incredibly stressful but rewarding at the same time. You work long hours doing a lot by yourself, planning, marketing, thinking. I still have the very first business card I created myself, to reduce my startup cost. It is important that you take care of yourself too, getting sick is not an option, as entrepreneurs we need to be healthy.  My mom used to always tell me, “You need your health in order to earn a living”. Moms always know best. There is no such thing as instant manifestation, work hard, be consistent, stay the course, know your avatar.

What motivates you about your business?

I absolutely love and enjoy what I do, it is extremely rewarding for me to make a difference in someone’s life. I love the fact that each client brings something different to the table. I too grow, learn, and expand through my client’s experiences.  I am constantly looking for processes that I can learn, integrate to help my clients. Thanks to my tax client I now see everything from a different perspective. Before I used to see numbers, now I use my creative mind.

What advice would you give to other entrepreneurs?

I read this phrase many years back in a book by Genie Laborde, and all business owners should be reminded of this from time to time. “Rapport is like money, it increases in importance when you do not have it, and when you do have it, a lot of opportunities appear”.

Interesting fact most of the people do not know about you?

I am a perfectionist, and over the years I have learned that stiving for perfection can be a handicap.

The best business advice I ever received was…

Direct your attention where you want to go, you direct your life when you direct your energy. Fear is about missed opportunities.

My definition of success is…

Doing what you absolutely love and adore and getting paid for it.

If I could go back in time when I started my business, I would tell myself to…

Find and accountability partner.

Three books I recommend for entrepreneurs are…

Happy Pocket Full of Money by David Cameron Gikandi

The Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz

The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle

My personal tagline is…

“If you want to change your life, you must first change your mind.”
