Who is Abaton Sisters, could you please introduce yourself?

Dr. Denise and Dr. Stephanie are sisters and Naturopathic Doctors. We were introduced to Naturopathic Medicine at a very young age. Not only was naturopathic medicine part of our daily health care routine, but it provided solutions to our mom’s chronic condition at a time when other forms of medicine could not.

What is your business and when did you start?

Abaton is an integrative clinic that began in 2015. We celebrated our fifth year anniversary this year in 2020!

What inspired you to start your business?

Our goal was to create a healing hub within the Oakville community where individuals could feel supported in their health journey. So much of healthcare is separated into silos of providers or systems of the body. We want to address an individual or family as a whole, to create a healthier future for individuals and families.

What were the challenges in the initial stages of your business and how did you overcome them?

One of the biggest challenges in starting the business, was finding the right professionals to support our business growth and provide guidance when needed. Also, learning how to identify and reach your audience so that you can better serve them.

What motivates you about your business?

Our patient’s success stories are our biggest motivators. Hearing what individuals are able to achieve and the outcome this has on their health and the impact it has on all aspects of their life.

What advice would you give to other entrepreneurs?

Be open to learning and talking to other seasoned professionals about their successes and their struggles. Don’t be afraid to invest in your business early, as some shortcuts will cost you more in the long run. Don’t be afraid to ask for help when you need it – we have a very supportive community with a lot of expertise and people who are willing to share their knowledge.

Interesting fact most of the people do not know about you?

We traveled to Churchill, Manitoba as children to fulfill our Grandmother’s lifelong dream of seeing the polar bears and northern lights.

The best business advice we ever received was…

to be mindful of your first impression, as people make a decision about you in the first second they meet you.

Our definition of success is…

being able to do what you love as your profession. We always think of the quote “Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life” – Confucius.

If we could go back in time when we started our business, we would tell ourselves to…

be patient, as it takes time to grow a new and successful business.

Three books we recommend for entrepreneurs are…

The E-Myth Revisted by Michael E. Gerber,

Dare to Lead by Brené Brown,

The One Thing by Gary Keller.

Our personal tagline is…

Your Family’s Health Care Resource
